After the how-the-hell-did-we-get-away-with-that? success of his ICA show the King of Woolworths is going to put us through it again. This time at London's Barfly as part of the Playlouder singles club on June 3rd. Expect the normal shambles as the band attempt to charm their way through an evening that is crashing down around their ears. If you saw them at the ICA you know what to expect. If you didn't pretend you didn't read that last bit.

Currently doing the rounds in the clubs are remixes of Evelsong and Delia Derbyshire by Matt Harding and Pedro. Heres what DMC Update magazine had to say - "Matt Harding is responsible for this beautiful remix, that's covered in cobwebbs & dust, but doesn't lose any of it's sparkle. Pete Bellchamber & Cima Cima deliver kinda cute & kinda scarey vocals, a bit like The Children Of The Damned doing Robert Smith impressions, with an angelic southern drawl, while the jingly jangly goes through the distortion pedal. The new King Of Woolworths LP is due, watch this space."

Half-man half-mac King Of Woolworths (aka Jon Brooks) is to marry his long-time girlfriend Anna at a secret showbiz ceremony somewhere in the Peak district next month. DJing at the reception will be the King's mates Bob and Pete from St Etienne, who will be arguing over who gets to play the Village People montage long into the night.

The King is currently working like a Victorian chimney sweep, completing tracks for his new album.
We hope to get it out in the Autumn and rumour has it there might be a full King Of Woolworths band touring around then. With real instruments and everything. Believe the hype... can't wait!

If you're in London this weekend check out Dot DJing this Sunday, 5th May, at the Elbow Rooms in Islington, London N1.
It's a bit of a Mantra DJ-fest with King Of Woolworths and St Etienne's Pete Wiggs on the decks. Entrance is free and Monday's a bank holiday. So no excuses for missing out.
